How to trick out a pair of old tennis shoes?

I have a pair of old tennis shoes that are sort of old. I washed them in the washer so they would be clean and I don’t know what else to do with them. I got new laces for them and stuff but I want the shoe itself to look different. Can I bleach the shoe to make it white then just color it or something? Thanks. I like edgy styles by the way.

    what i did [because i have converse] Was take the white part on it and made it rainbow with sharpies. Then covered in clear paint. Then i got really awesome laces. Bleach does NOT make them white. It makes it like a yellow-y color. But i like splatted bleach and random paints on it. I also sewwed on button [SUPER EASY] and a star patch I made on each side. They are SOOO cool and everyone loves them. And the best part is NO ONE has them.. [:
